The world premiere of the Opel GTC Concept (Gran Turismo Coupe) four-seat coupe offers a look at the future of Opel design.

"This concept car demonstrates the new interpretation of the Opel brand,” explains Alain Visser, executive director, European Opel Marketing.

Exterior Design

Showcased by a bold and aggressive exterior design, the front is dominated by a trapezoidal grille with a signature Opel bar that’s finished in polished aluminum and featuring a more prominent Opel logo. LED technology is used to create unique shapes for both the headlights and the taillights and the GTC Concept is finished in unique matte gray paint.

Highlighted by sheet-metal surfaces to emphasize the aggressive stance, the side profile of the two-door coupe has a sculpted line in the door that blends and fades into the rocker panels and a strong shoulder line that runs from the headlights into the rear fenders and ends at the taillights.

The front and rear fenders incorporate large flares to surround the 20-inch wheels with high-gloss black paint and contrasting machined polished surfaces, shod with 245/40R20 tires that include a distinctive red line in the tread.

At the rear, the GTC Concept integrates a distinctive V-shape and the decklid of the hatchback includes an integrated spoiler. The Opel blitz emblem is featured at the rear as well as taillights that are shaped to resemble other Opel products. The overall shape results in a coefficient of drag of only 0.25.

The aggressive styling is backed up by a 300-horsepower 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 gasoline engine combined with a six-speed manual transmission that delivers the power through an electronically controlled intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

Bryan Nesbitt, executive director, GM Europe Design explained: “The GTC Concept importantly signals the next chapter in Opel’s design identity. Our team strategized to envision the new essence of Opel—more confident, relevant and distinctive in a high-performance, yet versatile, four-seat coupe.

GTC Concept Interior

The interior features an innovative new rear-seat system named "Flex4" to maximize interior flexibility. The rear seats slide forward separately and "dock" into the seatbacks of the front seats to provide additional flat-floor cargo area without the need to fold the seatbacks first. Since the seats can be converted individually, the GTC Concept can accommodate two, three or four occupants.

Designed to have a warm feel, the coupe also features sculpted surfaces to deliver a more dynamic driving experience. Four round instruments are surrounded by translucent rings that are backlit in red. The top of the dash wraps from the instrument panel into the doors and the "red line" from the tires is incorporated into the seats. The center stack is designed so that it is incorporated into the dash and appears to float above the center console.

The interior is finished with matte ebony surfaces with contrasting high-gloss piano black and aluminum trim for the center console, the shifter and a u-shaped graphic for the steering wheel.

"The GTC Concept embodies the confident, emotional direction we’re taking with Opel. Its exciting lines combined with its high driving dynamics and interior flexibility reflect what the Opel brand trademark characteristics will be in the future,” Visser said.
