EyesOn Design Awards
The second annual EyesOn Design Awards are unique in that they are presented to vehicles introduced at NAIAS. All the judges are respected designers.
The EyesOn Design Awards are hosted by the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the blind and visually impaired through education, support and research.
Tom Gale, former head of design for Chrysler, is the chief judge of the awards, leading a design jury of 24 respected designers.
This year four awards were presented:
Concept Implementation Award: 2008 Cadillac CTS
This award is presented to the vehicle that centers on a concept scheme or attribute crafted to bring out the true brand or product character in a new and significant way.
Aesthetics and Innovation Award: Chrysler Nassau Concept
This award goes to the vehicle that focuses on the aesthetics of design, the very essence of design and the innovative way it brings out a new and significant design standard.
Functionality Award: Kia Kue Concept
Presented to the vehicle that focuses on how design conveys function in an efficient and useable way that enables the user to execute daily life in a proficient and constructive way.
Spirit of Industrial Design: Jeep Trailhawk Concept
This award goes to the vehicle that blends materials, aesthetics and functional designs to suggest greater customer appreciation.
