Ford introduced the first co-branded Harley-Davidson F-150 pickup in 2000. There have been six more since, and today, the Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker unveiled the eighth generation here in Chicago.

“We’re giving customers more of everything they love with the best F-150 and the boldest Harley-Davidson F-150 ever – featuring a fully differentiated design, all-wheel-drive capability, 22-inch wheels and a knockout interior,” said Matt O’Leary, chief engineer.

The 2010 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 will announce itself with a unique front fascia and a 6-bar billet-style grille. Other standard exterior features will include Harley-Davidson chrome badges, a somewhat lowered appearance thanks to integrated deployable running boards, 22-inch Euroflange forged wheels and low-profile performance tires. Two paint colors will be offered, Tuxedo Black and Lava, a deep maroon with three-color metal flake.

Inside, the Harley F-150 will have leather upholstery, and the seatbacks will feature ribbed leather treatments, engraved Harley-Davidson button snaps and map pockets with zippers from Harley jackets. The seats and console lid will have handmade cloisonné badges, and the console will get a limited-edition serialization plate.

“There’s a real tie-in between the truck’s interior and exterior designs,” said Patrick Schiavone, the project’s design director. “It’s very much like how some customized Harley-Davidson motorcycles have a prominent theme that runs through them. That’s how we tie it in with custom bikes.”

Every 2010 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 will be based on the SuperCrew cab body style, with four full-size doors and 6-passenger capacity. Rear-wheel drive will be standard, but customers will also be able to choose optional all-wheel drive, which is exclusive to the Harley-Davidson model among F-150s. The lone engine will be the F-150’s 5.4-liter V8, which produces 320 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Ford says the Harley F-150 will also have a sport-tuned exhaust and a top speed of 115 mph.
