Chrysler's 'Grand' Entrance
Chrysler’s all-new people mover made its Asian debut at the Tokyo Motor Show with a cleaner exterior design and revised interior. Sold under the Grand Voyager name, this minivan has a number new features and improvements including a new 6-speed automatic transaxle that’s mated to a 3.8-liter V6 engine.
To make communication easier between second- and third-row passengers, the Swivel 'n Go second-row seats rotate 180 degrees and a removable table can be installed between the two rows. The Grand Voyager also features the "Swivel 'n Go" seating system and one-touch power-folding third-row seats.
Chrysler's "Stow 'n Go" seating system is standard, along with a removable sliding front console that is large enough to store a purse; heated first- and second-row leather seat; rear-view interior conversation mirror; YES essentials stain-resistant, odor-resistant, static-resistant cloth fabric; a removable flashlight in the rear quarter panel; first-and second-row power windows; second-and third-row retractable sun shades; ambient halo lighting; and a three-zone climate control system.
Redesigned Jeep Cherokee
Also premiering in Tokyo is the redesigned Jeep Cherokee (Liberty in the U.S.) that is all-new from the ground up with a classic, more rugged look and an all-new interior. True to its off-road heritage, the Cherokee now comes standard with the new Selec-Trac II full-time 4-wheel-drive system. New standard features include Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist.
The available Sky Slider full-open canvas roof offers an open-air experience in the Cherokee similar to Jeeps from the past. The Cherokee is powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Both the Chrysler Grand Voyager and the Jeep Cherokee will be available on the Japanese market in 2008.
Launched in Japan just four months ago, the Dodge brand continues to expand in the Japanese market with the Asian premiere of the Dodge Demon Concept and introduction of four production models: Avenger, Caliber, Nitro and the Charger SRT8.
