Lexus Gives the IS a Boost
With a number of customized Lexus models on display, the luxury arm of Toyota used the SEMA show to introduce the Lexus F-Sport Performance Accessory Line, which features a wide selection of performance enhancing products engineered by TRD (Toyota Racing Development).
Beginning in March 2008, F-Sport accessories will be available for the IS 250 and IS 350 from the 2006 model year or newer. A key incentive for tuners is that these modifications will be covered by the Lexus new vehicle warranty.
To highlight the F-Sport Performance line, Lexus also provided participants the opportunity to drive the new 2008 Lexus IS F on the Motor Trend Proving Ground. For even more excitement, attendees could take a ride in the IS F with 2004 Grand-Am Rolex Series champion Scott Pruett behind the wheel.
Lexus IS F Specifications
The IS F is the new high-performance version of the IS, powered by a 416-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine with an 8-speed sport direct-shift transmission. The IS F features 19-inch BBS forged aluminum wheels, high-performance Brembo brakes and offers the highest performance of any Lexus model available.
The F-Sport Performance line offers performance upgrades for all IS versions including 19-inch F-Sport forged alloy wheels that are fitted with 225/35R19 tires for the front and 255/35R19 tires for the rear.
