Motoring Classic - Day 5/6
The collection of elegant autos left the Oregon dunes just as the fog started rolling in. The drive moved away from the coast briefly to enjoy some beautiful forest roads near Smith River, Ore., then back south and into California. Lunch took place near a picturesque lighthouse, and from there the route headed a short distance to the Carter House in Eureka, Calif. On day six, after some quick photos in front of the famous Carson Mansion, we continued south to the Avenue of the Giants, stopping for a delightful picnic amid massive redwood trees. From there it was the very demanding Highway 1 that brought the group to the beautiful California coast. This is where day six ended, in Little River, Calif., with an excellent view of the sun setting over the Pacific.
