The Korea-based automaker dropped a couple of hints about plans for future with the debut of two concept cars.

The Kia Soul concept has been shown at a number of auto shows around North America, but at the L.A. show Kia Motor America’s new president and CEO Len Hunt announced that the production version of the Soul would look almost the same as the concept shown, and that it would arrive in showrooms next fall.

Perhaps not as ready for production was the lime green KND-4 Concept displayed in L.A. The crossover SUV features sleek styling with an emphasis on sportiness.

“The KND-4 compact SUV is a vital vehicle because it showcases dynamic and sophisticated styling cues that are strongly indicative of future Kia SUV models,” said Hunt. “Designed with active and independent consumers in mind, KND-4 demonstrates Kia’s ongoing commitment to making vehicles that are both stylish and technologically advanced.”

Also quite important is the powertrain in the KND-4a 2.2-liter Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) diesel engine. Kia has no diesel for the U.S. at this time, but Hunt promised more news on Kia’s diesel strategy early next year.
