Mitsubishi Eclipse, Galant
Mitsubishi continues to build on its promise to offer fun-to-drive cars that are economical to own with the introduction of the 2009 Eclipse and Galant.
On sale this summer, the 2009 Eclipse receives styling updates including a larger jet-fighter inspired grille evoking the new Lancer, and a new rear spoiler for the GT.
The new front and rear fascias are single color for Eclipse ES and two-tone for the GT, which now features standard HID headlights and a new, more powerful sound from a dual exhaust system that raises engine output to 265 horsepower.
The GT also receives standard Active Stability Control (ASC). Three new exterior colors are Maizen Blue pearl, Quick Silver metallic and Solar, a vibrant new yellow.
The Galant also gets fresh styling in the form of a new grille, hood and lower air intake at the front, with more changes at the rear including wider rear glass, a new trunk lid, and new taillight and rear bumper treatments.
The high-performance Ralliart will continue to top the 2009 Galant model line, which will also include the 4-cylinder ES, Sport and Sport V6. The new Sport and Sport V6 are identified by standard 17-inch alloy wheels.
With exclusive exterior styling, Galant Ralliart is powered by a 258-horsepower 3.8-liter MIVEC V6 engine mated with a 5-speed Sportronic automatic transmission and includes Ralliart-tuned sport suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels. Galant ES and Sport are powered by a 160-horsepower 2.4-liter MIVEC 4-cylinder engine with a four-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic, and the Sport V6 is powered by a 230-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 engine.
Concept-RA
One of the hits of the North American International Auto Show a few weeks ago in Detroit, the Concept-RA gives an indication of what we can expect to see in a future sport coupe from Mitsubishi. It's a pure coupe design with a high-output clean diesel engine.
With a space frame made from extruded aluminum and die-cast aluminum components, the Concept-RA makes extensive use of lightweight construction materials to boost performance, fuel economy and safety. The engine covers, fenders and other body panels are molded from recyclable impact-resistant plastic resin.
With a next-generation Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system based on the new Lancer Evolution, Active Center Differential, Active Yaw Control, Sport ABS, Active Stability Control, Active Steering and Active Damping Control, the Concept-RA includes all the latest technology for performance and handling.
Powered by a high-output, low-emissions 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 201 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, the Concept-RA also includes all the latest emission technology to meet U.S. standards.
